What Splitbill is
Splitbill is a bill-splitting app for the web and mobile. The mobile app is offline-first: your data lives on your device and only syncs to our server when you create an account and sign in.
Data we collect
- Account data: your name, email address, and a hashed password when you sign up.
- Expense data: the groups, expenses, payments, and member names/emails you enter, so balances can be shared with the people in your groups.
If you use the mobile app without an account, this data stays on your device and is not sent to us at all.
What we don't do
- No ads and no third-party trackers or analytics.
- We never sell or share your data with anyone.
- No payment processing — Splitbill only records who owes whom; no money moves through it.
Third-party services
Currency conversion rates are fetched from frankfurter.dev (no personal data is sent — only currency codes).
Data sharing within groups
When you add an expense to a shared group, its members can see that expense, your display name, and the balances that follow from it — that's the point of the app.
Deleting your data
You can delete expenses and groups in the app. To delete your account and everything tied to it, email us and we'll remove it.
